Studio Practice - Summative Evaluation

Summative Evaluation  For my final outcome (to be displayed in the VR headset) I wanted to work with pattens with hidden meanings as well as working in a group/community . I feel like this has been achieved it but not fully in the way I wanted it to. I created a patten inspired by lace, hidden meaning and natural elements that can be found withing Nottingham Castle's paintings. Along side this I planned some community based work to do with this, the first section not going to plan - of adding colour to the fabric - but the second going to plan. This second group sewing was the main one i planned for the VR headset, for this one I wanted to do a comparison from the old lace making to now day, as our studio is in a lace studio. I found that this ended up having more comparisons that i was planning, all in a good way. I notice that why it is a physical comparison of what the room was once and what is it is now, it also shows emotional differences. I see this from how this was an en...

My plan of mutiple days of people spending a little bit of time adding colour the fabric did not work as everyone was too busy (I expected this to be how it went, but did think would be able to get a couple of photos of this) - this is part of the reason why i chosen to leave it how is, i rather leave blank for now until can plan something bigger - maybe could make it bigger and invite people to join me in adding colour at the castle (edit, I am leaning towards just the paper version and think want to leave the fabric how is) On the Monday, while waiting for people to join, Julian recommended that i did photos of myself sewing into the fabric. I did this and i like the outcome, i think these work better as a small stop motion then as stills. This inspired me to do a similar thing when i take the photos in Liz's room, where i want to do a mix of stills and stop motions.  Group sewing -  Myself and 3 of my classmates/friends did this together, i like this more then if it was to ...

30/1/25 - Talk with Tony After my talk with Julian and i chose what i want to do, i went up to the print workshop to talk to Tony. He recommended going down to fashion to do heat transfer, but said that i can also do silk screen, i chose to do the silkscreen as i knew i would be able to get it done in a week and cause I'm aware the heat transfer at fashion is very warm tone, something I didn't want for my work. My original plan was to use the peach/plum piece i was working on before however after talking with tony, this piece is too complicated to use as it has more then 3 colours (each tone of colour if counted as a separate one). Cause of this I planed to think over the weekend on what best to do, and possibly make a new design/s. 4/2/25 - Issues with sending + getting the plastic For the silkscreen i wanted to use a type of plastic (forgot the name of it) that Paul can print onto. This plastic can be used for making the screen instead for Tony using oil on paper. I had some ...

Planning the final design, making it and colouring This is some sketches i did of fruit/vegetables i could use in the final design. I think i made this before i created the 'peaches and plums' design. These are some of my plans and sketches for this design, i chose to do this first so i can work out what to use and just get things down. I also wanted to use this so i could go back to it to see how things would be drawn and to make sure all of the elements i wanted in the work is in the work. This is is the base i used when creating it. I wanted to use from one of my existing pieces, using it as a guide line. However I only used this to draw in some guide lines and then didn't use it after. These are the two final designs. They went through a lot of changes, especially a section in the middle as i did not like how it originally looked and wanted to change it. I used some tools i didn't think about using, such as duplicating slides and moving one of them, so all of the s...
