These are some artists i found while doing research for the extended pieces of writing. These are some artist i found to look into for the Castle project because they work with a similar way i plan too or cause i found inspiration from them. There us a large range of different elements that i found will be useful as i don't fully know what i what i want to do. Jim Hodges - Changing things  https://www.anothermag.com/fashion-beauty/gallery/376/jim-hodges-a-diary-of-flowers/1 I like the flow this work has, it remines me of the beetle swam by Anna Collate Hunt. I also like how he used different materials such as wire and tissue to create this work. I like this work as an example of insulation and how i can display things. Jim Hodges - Ghosts This is another one of his works that i like (this is the one that was in the book). I like this one due to it delicacy, the plant being made from glass. This remines me of a real flower called a skeleton flower, as well as skeleton leaves (...

19th century French sales sample book: Before we officially started this project, i saw a video about a 19th century French sales sample book, this inspired by a lot and i wanted to create something similar but with lace. This video started the ideas of different ways i can also make a sample book but with the subject of lace, from ceramics, to print and cyan types. With this i could explore other routes, like making them colourful, making a little mor magical or going down an archeological found route - inspired by caveman's and other ancient societies. (edit layer, i did not explore this as i wanted too but maybe it a small route i can go down for the FMP, maybe looking more at the materials that they use, such as their coloured metal sequins) Some examples of them, including the ones from the video and some others i have found These are the ones that was shown in the video. I really like how shinny they are and how they have been layed out. These are some more examples tha...

15/12/24 - First trip This was the first day we went to the castle, i spent this day taking photos of things and talking to my classmates about possible ideas. We went around together, jumping ideas against each other. 15/1/25 - 2nd group trip + Observation sketch During this trip, the focus was to do some observational drawings. I really liked doing this, i did not like the pots ones as much as the other page but i enjoyed it overall. I did not know this was the plan when going to the castle, so i was not fully prepared and only had some random materials. Despite this, i enjoyed having to be more creative with my art due to the limited colours as well as the colours being brighter then what i would normally work with. I would like to go back and do some more of these (edit later, did not have a chance to do this again cause was ill and needed to focus on other things, but would like to do similar things for the beginning stages of my FMP) 21/1/25 - Trip with classmate for photos ...

Professional talks - Anna Collette Hunt (Missing photos)

Anna Collette Hunt - Ceramic bug lady Today, after our trip to the castle, we joined a talk by Anna Collette Hunt. I enjoyed this talk the most, as I knew of her work (the one that was put in the castle), and i really enjoyed the visuals of her work as well as how she works with the natural world. Her work is magical looking. In her talk, she spoke about her early work (drawings, that she stopped making for a while but recently started again), her work for exhibitions as well as the work she creates to sell. In this section of the talk, she spoke about how doing themed dropped (like for the holidays), are a good way to keep a stable income. She spoke about her experiences, getting help for people while making her swarm (for the castle, but has traveled to other places to be shown), working with a larger company (i forgotten the name, but they are American base interior product company)

Studio Practice - Summative Evaluation

Summative Evaluation  For my final work, I wanted to work with pattern and real materials as well as storytelling . I feel like I have achieved it, however, with more time I could have made something stronger than I made so that it was more stable and visually more cohesive. I used bamboo to tell a story, the bamboo that is attached to the bottom of the sink leg, on the floor, suggesting the abandonment of the space. The bamboo part being washed in the sink suggesting someone living there, using what they can find to survive. The use of a garland and wallpaper shows how someone has tried to make the space nicer to live in. I feel like the garland does this more as it looks lik e someone made it from things they have found, whilst the wallpaper looks like something new. I feel that if I was to have made the wallpaper look old and falling off, it could look like the original wallpaper and that the people would have tried to fix it. Overall, I liked the pattern work mo...

These are some photos of the work I have done with the bamboo. The first photos are photos of separating parts of the bamboo, so i have the leaves the stem and the brown things of the stem. This is some photos I tock from the process of washing the bamboo (due to them having a small amounts of mould on them). I personally like the photo I tock of the bamboo in the water and called these photos "bamboo soup" This is an experiment I did with putting stands of bamboo leaves together. My goal with this was to see if i could use it as the 'string' of the garland but i found that it looks like barbwire. This links to the work i did of looking at abounded prisons. I feel like the images I made with them on the sink are really strong, they suggest the struggle for water outcast will have (outcasts who have alternative home) but also the fragility these holds have, suggesting the idea that the control people...

Droste Effect 'The Droste effect describes a specific type of recursive picture in which a smaller version of the larger image is featured within the larger image' -  Adobe 50 Examples While researching more into this, i have notice that a lot of digital versions of the effect used the swirl composition. I found it quite hard to find many examples of what i wish to create that is a straight version rather then a swirl. Harold Davis - Mirror selfie https://www.digitalfieldguide.com/blog/20288 This is an example of a photograph that has similar qualities to the Droste effect but not fully the same. In this image the photographer has taken a photo of himself using two mirrors that are facing each other. This work is not what i am aiming to create in my own work, but i found it to be important to look at a range of different ways to create this effect. This use of having two mirrors facing each other is something i have seen in person (no photo of that time or memory on where), i ...
