Studio Practice (pencil underlayer for all)

These are work in progress photos of me doing the under layer of the paintings. I wanted to mark out the shape after it was projected/traced, this was to help me better see the outlines as i could not see the pencil lines that well. I also wanted to loosely add the darkest and lightest parts of the plant, this process tock a lot longer then it should have as well as used a lot of my pencil, that I was not happy about as the whole thing would be covered in paint. I did like how this look, especially for the Oleander painting, I this would not work the project as there was no paint put under the painting, so i had to stick with my original plan. However, i would like to do this style again for another project, making sure to do a base painting under, and might use a similar thing on the oil pastel/pencil layer of the painting (after it been painted)
Overall this was helpful for my painting but it did tack too long, in the future i would like to dine a different way to do this that does not use as much materials or take as much time to complete (it tock a week to do, i was planning on it taking 2-3 days)
