Studio Practice (test background + Denis talk)

These are the work in progress photos of some text backgrounds i done as well as how they could look with the paintings. I used the digital sketch i did of foxglove, and replaced the background with a photo of the paintings, this was to have a better understanding on how different colours and texture would work. I like them all in there own way, they all do work but have different pro and cons so was hard to pick one i would like to mimic. This was helpful when it came to talking/describing my ideas however the final background did not end up looking like any of them. These background also went though many changed, them all having 2-3 different layers of paint. This help me remember that it isn't difficult to cover it up if i do not like, and also help me have a better understanding on how to get different effects, by using rollers, wiping away, pallet knifes and other things.

I wanted to create this quite fast (in the morning) as i had a meeting plan with Denis to talk about my ideas and get some advise on the paintings. This talk was very helpful and i ordered the boards after doing it (should have waited a little longer as was struggling to pick 3 plants and wish i did 2 larger ones instead, but didn't want to spend more money on boards) During this meeting, Denis shown me some artists to look at and also spoke to me about how i could display it - making more into a insulation by adding something on the floor, she spoke about a student/artist she helped who dipped flowers into wax (or plaster) and put onto the floor, i really like this idea and would have liked to do the same or something similar with mine, if i had the time to do so. She also spoke about how i can pick the plants, base on how they look and have 3 different plants visually such as a larger, a smaller one and a either smaller one or have 3 different shapes. This is something i kept in mind while picking my plants. During this talk i also spoke to Denis about is i would be allowed to trace over a google photo, she said it will be fine due to the amount of time we have left but if had more time she would have advice me to draw it myself.
This is the one i thought would work the best, it was not too bright it would take away from the flowers (not allow the flowers to stand out as much) while also having the right amount of texture that doesn't look flat, while still being able to put text onto it that can be read.
I like this one, it having a more smooth look to it as well as being the closet one to the digital ones i created. However, i find it to be a bit too bright, and the flowers might not stand out as much as i would like.
This is one of my faviours, i like how much texture that is on it and reminds me of a rusted door (in different colours) however it has too much texture to add any working onto it, the words would be too hard to read. It also might be too difficult to get a similar texture on a larger scale, while working on mutiple ones at the same time, as i used a pallet knife while it was partly dry, there being many other layers under it.
