Studio Practice - peach and plum

 25/1/25 - 31/1/25 - Peaches and Plums

For this design i wanted to experiment with using some more colours. This does make the design process more complicated as i need to also make sure nothing clashes and need to think on what element should be what colour. However i think because i kept the green i used for the other ones, it made it a bit easier as i have a premade outline colour that i could use as well as the other colours. This idea started as i notice plumbs and peaches looked very similar to each other and wanted a way to help tell them apart, from this i also planned how i can do this with other pairs for future designs.

This is the first work in process photo i have for this design.

This is my second work in process for this design. However, this one also work as it own photo as it looks complete. I kept a copy of this as a finished version and planned to add more to it, adding elements that fit the square canvas, like how i did for my book last year. For a little while i didn't know how to expand this so i did a couple of colour experiments of it, these can be seen at the bottom of this blog. I also redesign the middle part of this, adding more subtle detail. I also changed the transparency of the layers, this gave a more 3d look to the work what i like a lot.

This is a work in process photos for when i stared to do the outer design. This you can see the some rounded outline (that i had for after i done the outer design as i was unsure if i want to follow the curve or the straight lines for this section, or a mix of both), as well as the start of the outer boarder. This was taking inspiration from the book last year, where i had an element in each corner and connected those, to give a more rounded look to the work. For this one i copy the center of the middle flower, from the original design, and made it smaller so it can fit into each corner. I like how this looked and it made it easer for me as i did not have to think of a new pattern for this elements.

This is where the design got left off before i moved onto the final one. I like how it was heading however i was getting to a point of knowing what else to add. I did not fully get to do what i wanted to, as i wanted to do a small collection of these, using different natural elements and colours for each one. This is something i might carry on creating in my free time, as i do like the idea and how it started to form.

I also saved some copies of this work with missing elements, to be used in a similar way as the border i did before. This was i could have more options on what i can do with it, however i don't think i will end up using these in the future.

This is a small test i did to see what it will look like if it was black and white. I changed around the colour levels to get to this, as i found this to be the best look out of them all however i do not like how it looks. I wanted to see if i could get a similar look as i did for my other designs by doing this, however because this one is not just an outline like those ones, it did not turn out the way i hoped.

This is a small experiment i did with changing the colour background. I like the tone/shade of green along with the other colours in the work, i find them to work well together. However i do prefer how it looks with a white background. I found that the work pops more with a white background, whereas with this coloured one, it blends in more.
