Studio Practice

A small talk with Julian (the day before original decline)

Today I had a small talk with Julian on my plans for the rest of the project and he gave some recomendations/ideas of things i can explore. My orginal plan was to make the model sink and items for that as well as 3 small scale mix media painting experiments (a 4th or some larger ones if i had time to do them). He liked these ideas but want me to still do somthing with the sink in the studio like i orgianlly planned too, he gave some ideas that i would like to explore as well.

He recomendated 'dressing the sink', this involved using the sink to display my work as well as some other instulations i could do. The first idea was putting my paintings or other work at the sink and taking a good quality photo of it, using the sink as a part of my dispaying of work. With that idea he also said about then putting up the photo, taking a photo of that and so on, creating an endless image, i would also like to do this maybe adding something new each time like its growing.

He also suggested painting on or around the sink, or sticking things on the sink like one of my vegeable paintings/a copy of it. I like the idea of this, i would like to do a stop motion time laspe of bamboo growing on the wall behind the sink, painting each section of the bamboo at a time and adding the leaves. I also want to make a garland to go on the sink and around a bar (either the one supporting the sink or the one supporting the ceiling), with this i want to use my vegable paintings or some plush vegables as well as adding some beads. A class mate might be giving me some thin bamboo and i would like to use that in the garland.

An idea i had as an aftermath of this is doing something with tomato's on a specific wall in the studio (this also came from him talking about making giant work, such as a giant tomatoes). I wish to do this as tomato is one of the plants i been using in my work and as well as a 'memorial' to a plant we use to have in the studio. On this i could do another time lapse, stick a photo do the plant and a paint around it, stick singular images of tomatoes on the wall (maybe also around the photo). I could also use the photo of the plant with the sink, linking the work i been doing to a lost 'member' of the studio.
