Some ideas after talk with Julian (week starting 11/11/2024)

These are the sketches of some ideas I have and want to explore, expanding on my previous ideas of laying and twisting an abandoned place/prison into something with life and somewhere someone lives/has made into a home.
These are some small studies of a tomato plant, too have a better understanding on how they grow around bars. Next time I do some work with this plant around bars, I'm going to do it in a similar way i did the first time but focus more on making colours a bit more detailed. I find the one where i wasn't bothered if it is growing fully realistic to have look nicer and look more uniform then when trying to make it more accurate.
I then started to look at using bamboo to replace the bars, this was inspired by seeing trees lined up like bars. However, I didn't want to use something so detailed like trees and wanted to try and link it to my starting point of the symbolism behind tattoos, specifically traditional Japanese tattoos. This is why i chose to use bamboo as well as it is a simple shape, that is quite easy to draw and make it look like bamboo no matter the style i am doing it in, and it seems to be easier to morth into other objects.
This is 3 idea sketches of different illustrious i could explore, all of these are inspired by images i have found online (i will insert each original photo at the bottom), where i then found ways to add bamboo into it. The first design is replacing the metal bars of the jail cell door with bamboo, where i can use the leaves to show the lines going across. The second design is a bunk bed in front of a barded window. My plan for this one is to relace the bars with bamboo and make the bed be made from bamboo, i also want to turn the bottom bunk into space to hold a bookcase and a desk as well as adding other elements within the image to make it seem like someone lives there. The last one is a sink that has bamboo around the base as well as some vegetables/fruit within the water being washed.
Fact about bamboo - If it is left alone it will grow a lot and nothing can stop it, it is known to destroy buildings if left unattended. I feel like this can like a little into my use of it, showing how abandoned these places are - so abandoned that nature has taken over. It can also show a relationship between man and nature, nature will take over man made things but humans can still live alongside it.

This is close up photos of the sink design, I like the simplicity of the food in the water. I think i would like to focus on the sink idea, as we have 2 weeks left and i am the most interested in this compare to the other ideas.
