24th September 2024 Today we went down to Lakeside Arts to see their show on the artists Paula Rego, and Grayson Perry. I enjoyed this trip to the Lakeside, overall I was more drawn to the work of Paula Rego but I was also very interested in the detail work/texture in Grayson Perry's work. Paula Rego - Visions of English Literature This show was a collection of Rego's printmaking work, inspired by well-known pieces of the English Literary canon, namely Nursery Rhymes, Peter Pan, and Jane Eyre. The show also shows some of her personal items such as her childhood copy of Peter Pan, unseen preparatory sketches, and etching plates. I was more drawn towards her works around Nursery Rhymes and was the most excited about seeing these pieces of work in person. I became more aware of her work during my FMP last year, where I was creating work inspired by kids' stories.
