Rachel Whiteread Whiteread work with casts, often using different liquid materials such as concrete and plaster, to create her sculptures of everyday object. Most of the time her casts are of the negative space, between, under and around the objects. This space surrounds and defines the object that she is showing in her sculptures. This is shown in her sculpture showing book corridors (the piece i chose to look at for my work).  In this piece, initially the viewer see shelves of books however when you start to focus on the sculptures you see that there is no books left, only some colouring/fabric left from when the books would have been removed from the piece. I like the way she used the negative space from a book shelve to create a visually interesting shape, tricking the eyes into seeing something that isn't there anymore.  (how i find this piece to relate to my work) This piece shows to me that even when the book has been removed (like when a book has been lost, read or the...
